Evening Itinerary: Quad, Camel & Dinner
This evening adventure combines three Agafay experiences into one unforgettable outing. You are picked up from your Marrakech hotel or riad in the late afternoon and driven about forty kilometres to the Agafay Desert, a striking rocky landscape of dunes and plateaus with the High Atlas as a backdrop.
- Hotel pickup in the late afternoon
- Guided quad bike ride across the desert
- Sunset camel trek
- Traditional dinner under the stars
- Live show with Gnawa music and fire performers
- Return transfer to Marrakech
Quad Biking in the Agafay Desert
After a short safety briefing, you set off on a guided quad ride across the dunes and open plateaus. The route is adapted to your group, so beginners ride at an easy pace while more experienced riders can enjoy faster, more technical sections. Helmets and goggles are provided, and your guide leads the way so you can focus on the thrill and the scenery.
No driving licence or previous experience is required, and children ride as passengers or on gentle sections with an adult.
Sunset Camel Trek
As the afternoon softens into golden hour, you trade the quads for a traditional camel trek. Riding a camel is a slower, gentler way to cross the desert, and it is the perfect moment to watch the sun sink behind the Atlas Mountains. Your Berber camel guide leads the caravan and is happy to share stories of life in the desert.
Dinner & Live Show Under the Stars
The evening ends at the desert camp, where you sit down to a traditional Moroccan dinner of salads, tagine, fresh bread, fruit and mint tea. As you eat, musicians and performers bring the night alive — expect Gnawa rhythms, Berber dance and a dramatic fire show. With little light pollution in Agafay, the stars above the camp are spectacular on clear nights.
What to Wear & Bring
- Comfortable clothes and closed shoes
- A warm layer — desert evenings get cool even in summer
- Sunscreen for the afternoon sun
- A camera or phone for sunset and the show
Best Time for the Agafay Evening
The tour runs year-round, but the most comfortable evenings are from September to May, when the desert cools quickly after sunset. In summer, the late-afternoon start means you avoid the worst of the heat, and the nights remain pleasant. This experience works equally well for couples, families and small groups.
About the Agafay Desert
Agafay is a rocky desert about forty kilometres south-west of Marrakech, closer than the sand dunes of the Sahara and far easier to reach for an evening. Its pale, moon-like dunes and open plateaus sit against the High Atlas, creating some of the most photographed desert scenery near the city. Unlike the Sahara, Agafay can be enjoyed on a half-day or evening trip, which is exactly what makes this quad, camel and dinner combination so popular.
Sun Sky Camp is located in the heart of this landscape, with a comfortable camp that serves as the base for the quad ride, the camel trek and the evening dinner show.
Booking, Cancellation & Group Info
Booking is confirmed instantly, with hotel pickup and drop-off included from central Marrakech. The tour is ideal for couples, families and groups, and children are welcome — younger guests ride camels with their parents and can join the quad as passengers. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start gives you full flexibility, and the team can tailor the experience for celebrations such as birthdays or anniversaries if you let them know in advance.
